Assistant Controller

Job Description

  • Assist in the management of the accounting & finance function, including accounting, tax, financial reporting, data analysis for managed funds 
  • Assist in the month/quarter end close process and review of monthly/quarterly NAVs 
  • Review and monitor fund expense accruals 
  • Review work completed by the fund administrator on key transactions 
  • Review of quarterly GAAP financial statements and Limited Partner reporting packages prepared by the fund administrator 
  • Support other Fund Accounting team members in managing the year end audit and tax process 
  • Assist with the review of annual audited financial statements 
  • Assist with the review of investor tax reporting, including K-1s. 
  • Work with fund operations team to execute capital calls and distributions, including reviewing carried interest waterfalls when applicable 
  • Support investment valuation team with review of quarterly valuations, including reviewing all portfolio company valuation models for accuracy, completeness, and consistency 
  • Aid in regulatory reporting such as Form PF and Form ADV 
  • Partner with the Vice President/Senior Vice President to improve and enhance team policies and procedures framework and documentation of controls 


Qualifications

  • CPA Required 
  • 5-8 years of accounting experience with a Hedge Fund, Private Equity/Venture Capital firm or Fund Administrator. 
  • Experience with Addepar, Investran or other Portfolio Management Accounting System. 
  • Experience in implementation of software packages such as Investran or competing products or working on complex data migration projects. 
  • Strong Excel skills (construction of pivot tables, and use of VLOOKUPs, SUMIFs and similar formulas). 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (must communicate effectively with internal and external parties, across various levels of seniority). 
  • Exceptional documentation skills, easily able to document processes, and control, and drive projects related to the setup of policies and procedures. 
  • Self-starter and highly motivated. 
  • Organized and detail oriented. 
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment to drive success to support our growing business 
  • Bachelor's degree with concentration in business/accounting/economics/finance
