Assistant Controller

Firm Description: Multi-billion-dollar hedge fund managing a diverse portfolio that includes equities, fixed income, structured credit, derivatives and a variety of private investments. In addition to the core diversified funds this hedge fund has a number of side strategies. The management company also has various reporting requirements.

Job Description: This firm is looking for an experienced accountant to join their Fund Accounting team. The Fund Accounting team oversees the external administrators that maintain the official books and records for the funds, prepare a variety of reporting and work on various ad hoc projects and firm initiatives. The core job responsibilities are detailed below: 

1. Oversee the daily/weekly/monthly reporting processes for the funds including the review of investor allocations, investor transactions, fee calculations, expenses and monthly reporting packages.  
2. Coordinate the year-end financial reporting process with the auditors and administrators  
3. Review investor and regulatory reporting and respond to various requests 
4. Work with different departments on cross-functional firm initiatives that may include new fund launches, process improvements, etc.  
5. Manage one full time direct report and oversee 2-3 other individuals on various projects 

Qualifications: 

1. 5-8 years' experience in public accounting or a combination of public/private 
2. Experience with hedge funds and private equity is recommended 
3. Experience with registered investment companies is a plus, but not a requirement 
4. Experience with complex valuations is a plus, but not a requirement 
5. Experience with analytics and automation is a plus (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, VBA or other similar tools) but not a requirement
