Job Description 

The Head of Tax will lead the firm’s tax function with expertise and a strategic vision. This critical role demands tactical acumen, deep knowledge of US and international tax laws, and exceptional communication skills. This position is responsible for the global tax structuring, deal execution and compliance with all U.S. federal, state, local and international tax laws. You will partner with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance while optimizing tax efficiencies to drive investment and financial success for our investors and Firm. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the tax implications related to investments across multiple asset classes including private equity, real estate credit and equity, US middle-market lending, and structured and liquid credit, amongst other asset classes across the capital structure. 

 

  • Develop and execute comprehensive global tax strategies aligned with the Fund and Firm’s objectives. 
  • Lead all aspects of tax planning, compliance, and reporting for the Fund and Firms’ global operations. 
  • Collaborate closely with finance, legal, deal and executive teams to integrate tax considerations into investment and business decisions. 
  • Manage relationships and efficiently leverage the use of external advisors to execute and ensure transactions are structured to maximize investment returns. 
  • Provide expert guidance on tax structuring of investments, new business initiatives, and transactions with the investment and executive teams including selection of SPV jurisdictions, capitalization/finance structure, and tax strategies to mitigate risk and maximize investment returns. 
  • Stay informed of evolving US and international tax laws and regulations, providing proactive guidance to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities. 
  • Manage and oversee the tax implications of the Fund and Firm’s global operations, including all tax reporting, transfer pricing, tax substance and corporate governance. 
  • Drive process improvements and efficiencies within the tax and finance function to enhance overall effectiveness and productivity. 
  • Contribute to tax-adjacent Firm processes and initiatives such as new fund launches, entity management, LP side letter compliance, service provider selection, etc. 


 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Master's degree in Taxation or CPA is highly preferred. 
  • Proven track record of at least 10 years in progressively responsible tax leadership roles within a global organization, preferably private equity or financial services. 
  • Expertise in international tax planning, compliance, and reporting, with a deep understanding of cross-boarder transactions. 
  • Strong strategic mindset, with the ability to align tax initiatives with business objectives and drive value creation. 
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to interact effectively with investment and executive teams. 
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex tax issues and provide practical solutions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex tax matters in a clear and concise manner. 
  • Knowledgeable in a variety of credit investments, including structured products, corporate debt, bank debt, loan origination, etc. 
  • Very strong Excel skills
