Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled and strategic Managing Director of Finance with private equity experience who will play a key role in assisting the CFO with the execution of financial operations for the Firm. This individual will support the CFO with all aspects of the finance function, including; investment and tax structuring, cash management, hedging, accounting and financial reporting, planning and forecasting, credit agreement management and compliance, portfolio valuations, finance technology, fund administration, outsourcing and data systems, compliance, tax planning and reporting`, and other special projects.
Success in the position will require accounting, tax, and financial analysis experience, familiarity with the private equity regulatory environment, compliance regulations, portfolio valuations, and with fundraising and investor management experience. The Director of Finance will be comfortable working on a lean team, and leveraging technology, outside service providers (accountants, fund administrators), and operational resources to ensure accurate and timely management of all needs related to the Firm’s finance operations and activities.
Key Responsibilities:
· Deep understanding of all key financial responsibilities, specifically with respect to fund management, investor/limited partner financial reporting, tax, US GAAP and valuation guidelines.
· Oversee fund management, financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, credit agreement compliance, tax planning and reporting, cash and treasury internal risk controls, best in class technology systems, and related regulatory and compliance guidelines and principles.
· Assist with the preparation and reporting of quarterly and annual financial reports across all managed funds and coordinate with external fund administrator in issuing financial statements to limited partners, investors and co-investors.
· Partner with external fund accountants and administrators to ensure accurate and timely reporting and communication across all funds/SMAs.
· Review all work with third party fund administrator and service providers for all financial statements, capital calls, distributions, tax reporting, and other ordinary course needs.
· Assist with coordination of year end audit and tax preparation across all entities. Work closely with the Firm's auditors to ensure an efficient audit process.
· Mentor and lead talented finance professionals on your team.
· Assist with financial operations, including overseeing cash management, internal risk controls, treasury relationships, collections and disbursements, and adherence to regulatory guidelines and principles.
· Ensure compliance with the Firm’s valuation policy compliance with GAAP.
· Work closely with corporate counsel to update legal processes for fundraising, including final execution of all LP agreements.
· Respond to ad-hoc LP requests regarding capital calls, commitments, compliance, tax, and other related matters.
· Improve finance systems and processes through collaboration and partnership with technology team.
· Work proactively with other members of the team to ensure best-in-class technology and other finance systems to support critical financial and operational information.
· Assist with capital structure planning and review and provide analysis of capital plan; ensure capital plan is appropriately reflected in the forecast.
· Assist with diligence requests during fundraising.
· Assist with keeping the Firm informed of financial and compliance developments, regulatory changes, and industry trends.
· Contribute to firm planning, development, and implementation of best practices, process improvements, and strategic initiatives, internally and across portfolio companies.
Qualifications and Experience:
· At least 15 years’ experience with private equity fund accounting and/or relevant financial experience. Big four accounting or private equity fund administrator experience preferred.
· Bachelor’s Degree and CPA required, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA is highly desirable.
