Job Description

The Senior Controller / Director of Finance - Credit will support the Finance Team, led by the Co-Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer (based in New York) and the rest of the Investment and Business teams. The new hire will also work closely with the various Portfolio Managers responsible for credit investing globally. The role is a varied one, but tasks will include: 

  • Taking responsibility for the annual accounting process, which includes the monthly close, waterfall calculations, investor reporting, capital call/distribution notices, and coordination with the Fund Administrator to prepare the annual financial statements. 
  • Coordinating with investors to ensure cash contributions/distributions are received timely 
  • Monitor cash flows for value-add cash planning including bifurcation between current income and capital gains. 
  • Monitoring/managing the leverage facilities and related counterparty/internal reporting 
  • Monitoring/managing the hedging for the non-USD portfolio and related counterparty/internal reporting 
  • Work closely with Madrid, New York, and Sydney based professionals to facilitate the execution of public and private lending transactions. 
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders including the Investment Team, Tax, Valuation, and Legal to ensure the credit business is operating efficiently. 


Qualifications 

  • Have 10-15 years of relevant public/private credit experience – a mix of public and private accounting experience is preferred. Understand the complexity of a global private credit fund including multiple regulated fund structures. 
  • Have strong expertise with credit issues including non-performing/distressed loans, fee streams, and FX planning. 
  • Be comfortable with transactions in jurisdictions around the globe (e.g., U.S., Europe, Australia, etc.) 
  • Have experience with waterfall calculations, fund leverage, NAV computations, accrual planning, and other HF/PE accounting needs. 
  • Possess strong accounting skills, including financial statement/GAAP knowledge, as well as exceptional project management skills. 
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to translate complicated issues to non-accounting professionals.
