Job Description

  • Help establish the strategic direction, manage and oversee the tax planning and compliance functions related to the the firm and related entities, and ensure tax efficiency and optimization of the structure. This includes assessing industry best practices and implementing changes for improvements to current processes. 
  • Help lead the tax organization with responsibility for building, motivating and managing a high functioning team. 
  • Help manage relationships with external constituents, including tax advisors, legal counsel, investors, regulators, portfolio company management teams and others. 
  • Support transactions executed by the the Firms Funds. 
  • Apply knowledge to understand potential tax issues, recognize potential risks and upcoming changes in tax laws and communicate to firm management to facilitate decision-making. 
  • Anticipate and respond timely to requests and informational needs from the funds' limited partners. 
  • Anticipate and respond timely to requests and informational needs from the management company’s partners. 
  • Identify various methods of complying with tax regulations while acting as the primary client contact for complex tax issues. 


Qualifications

  • At least 15 years of relevant tax and accounting experience culminating in a position today (which might be similar to the position offered) as Tax Director of a sophisticated private equity or hedge fund. This individual could also be a partner in an accounting firm serving alternative investment management clients or family offices. 
  • Experience working in a transaction-heavy environment, with significant exposure to private equity investing as an asset class and business model. 
  • Experience re-engineering and improving processes and infrastructure, and identifying and putting long-term, best-in-class solutions into place. 
  • Strong technical knowledge of partnership tax and accounting, as well as corporate tax. Knowledge of individual and trust tax is a plus. 
  • Strong technical knowledge of tax software and related systems. 
  • Strong educational and professional credentials, which may include all or some of the following: 
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, taxation or related field. 
  • Master’s degree in taxation a major plus. 
  • CPA certification.
