Valuations Senior Associate
Job Description:
The Valuations Associate will assist with quarterly valuations of portfolio companies; portfolio monitoring, including capturing portfolio company financial information and preparing various analysis thereon; assisting with quarterly reports to limited partners on portfolio company performance and other special projects as assigned. While the position reports to the Senior Controllers + Director of Valuations, the Valuations Associate will work closely with members of the firm’s investment team (and Legal) and other members of the firm’s finance team.
• Assist with the preparation of quarterly valuations:
- Be adept at building out and maintaining valuation models for each investment
- Understand the basic drivers of a valuation and know the precepts of a basic DCF/Public Comps model
- Update public company comparable metrics, precedent transactions and WACC assumptions for DCF valuations
- Know how to build and analyze a waterfall.
- Know how to construct an Option Pricing Model.
- Know how to model structured equity like convertible preferred and basic debt instruments.
• Assist with the presentation of quarterly valuations:
- Draft portfolio company valuations for the valuation committee
- Manage internal valuation reporting process to accounting
- Assist in managing the mid-year and year-end audit process with auditors
- Manage the external valuation process– Assist with preparation of quarterly valuation report to send to valuation committee including comparison of key valuation metrics to prior quarter valuations
• Assist with portfolio company monitoring:
- Liaise with associates and portfolio companies to obtain quarterly portfolio company financials.
• Assist with ad-hoc projects related to IR/Compliance/Legal/Investment team
- Examples Include:
- Assist with portfolio company exit projection modeling.
- Assist with preparation of the quarterly and annual letters to Limited Partners which highlight business performance in each reporting period
- Assist compliance reviews of presentations
Qualifications:
Approx. 3 years of p/e valuations experience
